I entirely agree that it is not always necessarily the best thing to do however. I do indeed have a young family, and it is quite difficult to insist that I am working when I am there as they are naturally used to me being able to do things with them when I am home. However, if the task I am working on needs no interaction with colleagues and the family are out (!) I can make very good progress working at home.
